Treating Injuries with Lavender
You can stop a nosebleed with this magical herb. Put a couple of lavender oil drops on a tissue. Wrap the tissue around an ice cube and hold it between the middle of your top lip and your gums. Keep holding it until the bleeding stops. If you are traveling with your family and your kids are nauseated often, then lavender is the right answer. It’s healing properties can reduce nausea and motion sickness. Just put one drop of lavender on the back of your tongue and one drop behind each ear. Smear another drop around your kids belly button.
Baking with Lavender
If you are looking for that light, refreshing flavor in your baking, then lavender is the best way to go. You can add a tea spoon or a table spoon of crushed dried lavender flowers into your baked goods. Just make sure you’re using lavender intended for ingestion. I found a great recipe on Dining with Alice blog which I wholeheartedly recommend. Here’s the recipe for 36 of these heavenly baked goods.
2 ½ Cups Flour
½ tsp Baking Powder
2 sticks Land O’Lakes Butter-Salted
½ Cup Sugar, plus ¼ cup for rolling cookies
1 tsp Vanilla Bean Paste
1 Egg (room temperature)
1 TB Lavender buds, plus additional for garnish (1 tsp)
½ cup Powdered Sugar
Preheat oven to 350.
Mix flour and baking powder together and set aside.
Cream butter, sugar, vanilla, zest from 2 lemons and 2 tsp lemon juice. Add egg and mix. Gradually add in flour mixture and mix until combined. Add in 1 TB lavender buds and mix.
Form dough into two long rolls and slice into 36 total pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and roll in sugar. Press down cookie ball.
Arrange a dozen cookie balls on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake for 14 minutes.
For glaze, mix 2 TB lemon juice and powdered sugar. Drizzle on cookies and garnish with additional lavender buds.
Lavender for Beauty Purposes
You can easily mix up a mask with lavender oil, a facial or even a shampoo! I am going to recommend one of my lavender body scrubs. All you need is ¾ cup sugar, ¼ cup pink Himalayan salt, ½ cup coconut oil and 10 drops lavender oil. Apply it in the shower and let me know your thoughts! Don’t forget to rinse well!
How to Clean with Lavender
Not only can you make an amazingly effective carpet cleaner but it will also freshen the air in your home! So, you need to mix 5 to 6 drops of lavender oil with 1 cup of baking soda. It would be best if you could apply it with a spray on your carpet. Let it sit for an hour and all you have to do is simply vacuum it! Voila!
